Butterbean Farms Media Project

While taking a graphic design course, I began my introduction to Adobe Illustrator by means of creating three pieces for a fictitious farm: a logo, business card and magazine ad. This was my first real introduction to Adobe Illustrator and with guidance, I was able to create three pieces which I am proud.
With the logo, I wanted to create something which spoke to the farm and had an organic feel. I worked with a minimal color pallet and solid colors to better help with transfer-ability. Originally I had a color gradient from light to dark in the blue which makes up the sky in the logo. Here I learned it was better to go with solid colors over a gradient as the gradient may run into issues when printing and working with other material.
The final business card design came after a few draft versions. Some of the other versions were misplaced in their word placement hierarchy while leaving too much empty space on the left and right. I ended up moving the address and phone number info into a singular line at the bottom of the card in order to spread out the words, eliminating some of that empty space.
While creating the magazine ad, I began gathering image assets which spoke to the feel of the fictitious farm. Once I had a few images which I liked and I felt represented the farm, I began writing up a slogan and content which gave a glimpse into who this farm is and what they do. As you can see, the draft version was very much like my business card draft in terms of wording and placement. With guidance from my instructor I made the necessary changes to eliminate the dead space on the page, hopefully creating more of impact with the reader.
