The Wylder Talks Podcast Production
I was approached by this client during early 2020, as she had hopes to finally create and launch her own Podcast. After we spoke, my excitement grew as this was my first client-based project in the realm of podcast production. I studied audio and video production while I was in school. I became acquainted with Adobe Premiere Pro for video edits and post-production and Adobe Audition for audio edits and audio post-production. While I had previously utilized Audition for audio edits on some of my videos, working on this Podcast was my first experience in utilizing Audition to produce a Podcast.
While working with Faye, I instructed her on how to get better sounding audio in her recording with the resources available to her in her own home, while keeping the budget down. When you don’t have a large budget to work with, you learn to utilize the environment around you. Bedroom closets make a perfect, impromptu recording both for sound dampening and better sound quality. This trick and along with a few others were given to Faye as suggestions to improve the quality of her audio.
Since this Podcast was launched and went live during the initial COVID panic, Faye interviewed her guests over Zoom and audio calls were recorded and audio extracted. The extracted audio quality isn’t perfect but does ad a sense of authenticity to the interview. Almost as if the listeners are getting a unique perspective on a conversation between two people.
For every episode, I did my best to make the audio quality as good as it could be for the listener. In the beginning with the first few episodes things went a little slower as I made edits and got used to utilizing Adobe Audition. As the episodes progressed I got more comfortable with the program, utilizing presets and prearranged timelines with audio content which appears in every episode.
Once each episode is completed and approved by Faye, I then upload the audio with a title card to her YouTube channel, upload the episode to Libsyn.com for the Podcast hosting and double check her website to make sure the episode is synced correctly to her blog once live.
Below are a few of the title card graphics which were created to go with each episode. To check our all of the episodes, visit The Wylder Talks.
